Overview
NutriTrack keeps your food diary on your device and talks to the internet only to look up food information. This policy explains exactly what data the app handles and where it goes.
Data we collect
We do not operate any servers and do not collect your personal data. NutriTrack has no analytics, no advertising, no crash reporting, and no tracking of any kind.
Your account stays on your device
NutriTrack asks you to create a profile, but that account exists only on your phone: your credentials are stored securely in the device Keychain and are never transmitted anywhere. You can also use Sign in with Apple, which shares at most your name and (optionally hidden) email with the app — again stored only on your device. Deleting your account in Settings wipes all app data, credentials, and notifications.
Data stored on your device
Your food diary, custom foods and recipes, missions, streaks, hydration and sleep logs, and settings are stored locally using Apple’s SwiftData. The widget reads a summary through a private App Group shared only with the app. There is no cloud sync.
Food database lookups
To identify foods, NutriTrack sends only the search text you type or the barcode you scan to two public food databases:
- Open Food Facts (world.openfoodfacts.org) — packaged and branded foods
- USDA FoodData Central (api.nal.usda.gov) — generic foods and branded fallback
These requests contain no personal identifiers, no account information, and nothing about your diary. Previously scanned barcodes are cached on-device so repeat scans work offline.
If you manually enter nutrition facts for a product that’s missing from Open Food Facts, that product information (barcode, name, brand, nutrition values — never anything about you or your diary) is contributed back to the Open Food Facts public database under its open-data licence.
Apple Health (optional)
With your permission, NutriTrack writes your dietary energy, macros, and water intake to Apple Health, and reads activity, steps, weight, height, and sleep to personalise your experience. Health data is handled by Apple’s HealthKit on your device; it is never sent to us or any third party. Revoke access anytime in Settings → Health.
Camera
Camera access is used only to scan food barcodes. Images are processed live on-device and are never stored or uploaded.
Notifications
Meal, hydration, and streak reminders are local notifications scheduled on your device.
Data deletion
Use “Delete Account” in Settings to erase everything, or simply delete the app. Health data you wrote can be removed from the Health app.
Children’s privacy
NutriTrack does not knowingly collect any data from anyone, including children under 13.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new “last updated” date.
